The Burren & Cliffs Explorer shuttle bus is set to commence on Thursday, May 21st, and will run until Sunday, September 20th.
The shuttle bus service linking towns, villages, and visitor attractions throughout North and West Clare is the subject of public consultation and engagement sessions taking place in Miltown Malbay Community Centre on Wednesday, 22 April 2026 and The Burren Visitor Centre in Kilfenora on Thursday, 23 April 2026.
Launched in 2025 by Clare County Council in partnership with the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), and support from Fáilte Ireland, the free “Burren & Cliffs Explorer” service will return for the 2026 season.
Operating as a pilot project and on its second year running from 21 May to 20 September, the shuttle bus will serve Ballyvaughan, Corofin, Carran, Kilfenora, Doolin, Liscannor, and Lahinch, as well as Lisdoonvarna and Miltown Malbay. The scheduled service will also connect passengers with key attractions including the Burren National Park and the Cliffs of Moher Experience. New for this year is the inclusion of Ennistymon and Spanish Point.
Clare County Council and NPWS are inviting residents, businesses, and key stakeholders to share their views to help shape the future of the initiative. Public consultation events will take place at Miltown Malbay Community Centre on Wednesday and at the Burren Centre in Kilfenora on Thursday, with both sessions running from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
Representatives of the Cliffs of Moher Experience, the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark, Clare County Council, Fáilte Ireland and NPWS will be in attendance to provide additional information and answer questions.
Siobhán McNulty, Director of Tourism Development with Clare County Council, said the Burren & Cliffs of Moher Explorer offers flexible and convenient transportation that enables locals and visitors to experience the region’s natural and cultural attractions at their own pace.
“The development of tourism in the wider North Clare area must be sustainable and continue to reflect the views of local communities, which is why we are seeking the public’s input on the roll‑out of the new shuttle service,” she said.
