Clare Tourism Development announced the plans to reinvigorate Mac’s Pub in 2026, enhancing the visitor experience and connecting with a wider audience.
In the interim the building, at the centre of Bunratty Folk Park will remain open as an immersive museum pub, that will continue to reflect the essence of the traditional Irish pub with storytelling, traditional music and lighting fire. Alcohol will not be served during this museum period.
Mac’s Pub will close temporarily for just two weeks from this evening (Tuesday September 30, 2025) to allow for maintenance and cleaning, before opening daily to the public in its new form.
Chief Operating Officer (Acting) Clare Tourism Development Geraldine O’Rourke said, “Mac’s Pub is central to the folk park and the village street and has a longstanding history with a deep connection with visitors. We are looking forward to reinvigorating and reimaging the traditional pub experience to connect with a wider audience.”
“The plan to reinvigorate Mac’s Pub is just one element of the council’s plan to invest in the Bunratty tourist attraction. Further investments are due to take place in the off-season, in our carpark, pathways, health and safety works, as well as the development of the Brendan O’Regan Museum. These improvements will breathe new life into the experience and build confidence with visitors and stakeholders,” she added.
